Concerning My Work
Imbued with a tactile, hand-made quality, my animations and designs emit a constant energy used to critique various systems and structures. My initial training as an artist was predominantly focused on fine art and observational drawing, to which I accredit my energetic, gestural style. Ranging from the American Political Climate to wider lenses such as Feminism, I employ selective uses of humor and satire to open an audience’s eyes to a broader world-view. In doing so, Stop-Motion, Rotoscope, and 2D Character Animation are my most practiced methods.
The research process is a vital step in my work, whether observing a specific motion or diving deep into a topic to better understand it. Through better understanding comes new opportunities to critique and think critically, which ultimately strengthens the art. In sum, I believe that my reason “why” for making art should inform my “how.”
